Blame it on Kenergy.

On her way to the stage to accept the best actress 2024 Oscar for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, Emma Stone was seen mouthing “my dress is broken!” to the cameras.

“I think it happened during ‘I’m Just Ken,’ I’m pretty sure,” the 35-year-old actress revealed during her acceptance speech.

The star wore a custom mermaid gown with high jewelry, both from Louis Vuitton.

Past best actress winners Sally Field, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Michelle Yeoh awarded the star her golden statue, with Lange rushing to Stone’s aid to fix her sculptural mint dress’ zipper wardrobe malfunction.

At the post-show press room, Stone revealed more about how her dress was ultimately fixed.

“They sewed me back in, right when I came back, it was wonderful,” said Stone. “I genuinely do think I busted it during ‘I’m Just Ken.’ I was so amazed by Ryan and what he was doing and that number just blew my mind and I was right there and I was going for it and things happened.”

Stone joined the Barbie karaoke session when best supporting actor nominee Ryan Gosling (with whom she starred in 2016’s La La Land) handed her the mic during his dazzling performance of the Oscar-nominated tune. (The Mark Ronson track lost to fellow Barbie soundtrack song, “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.) Barbie co-stars Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa and more Kens joined Gosling on the stage for “I’m Just Ken,” while Greta Gerwig, America Ferrera and Margot Robbie also joined the starry sing-a-long.

Poor Things was the second most-nominated film with 11 nods. In addition to Stone’s best actress award, the absurdist comedy earned three craft wins, for best costume design, best production design and makeup and hairstyling. (Stone was seen backstage rushing back to the auditorium when the latter award was announced.)
