Emma Stone paid a visit to The Tonight Show on Thursday, and in addition to putting her musical knowledge to the test with host Jimmy Fallon, she also shared a story about how she auditioned for Nickelodeon's All That when she was 12.
"I thought they were going to give us sketches," the 28-year-old star recalled. "And then five minutes before I went in the room they said, 'You need to have three characters when you come in the room.' So I was like, 'Okay,' and then I made up a couple of characters."
While Stone did not get the gig, her characters sound pretty impressive. "I remember that one was a cheerleader that couldn't spell what she was cheering," she said. "And then there was another one that was actually pretty nuts that was a babysitter who is possessed."
In addition to her walk down memory lane, Stone also played the "Singing Whisper Challenge" game with Fallon, which involved them each wearing headphones blasting loud music while the other sang in a whisper. Fallon was first up and softly recited Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." to Stone, who had a seriously hard time guessing the hit tune.
"Whatever you're doing looks inappropriate. Like, there's no why you're doing it on the show," the La La Land actress loudly shouted over the noise of her headphones. "It looks like 'Pork in the Desert.'"
After several minutes and lots of wild gestures, Stone finally guessed the Springsteen song and handed her headphones over to Fallon.
She then performed Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby (One More Time)," and upon whisper singing, the late-night host noted, "Eat… What you're saying is inappropriate!"
The pair eventually gave up the whisper portion of the game, and Fallon pulled out his best Elvis impression for "I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You."
"Going to Scarborough Fair?" Stone guessed.
Finally Fallon had to guess Sir Mix-A-Lot's song, "Baby Got Back," but ended up hearing, "I said baby I'm not like that… Yeah, baby busted" -- which is not a lyric in the rap tune.
