Emma Stone’s latest feature collaboration with Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos has landed a summer release date from Searchlight Pictures.

The company announced Thursday that sci-fi anthology movie Kinds of Kindness will hit theaters June 21. The film stars Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer.

This news follows Stone winning an Oscar for her lead role as Bella Baxter in Lanthimos’ Poor Things. The pair also previously worked together on 2018’s The Favourite, which landed 10 Oscar nominations including best supporting actress for Stone, with the movie’s lone win going to Olivia Colman for lead actress.

Lanthimos helmed Kinds of Kindness from a script he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou, who worked with the director on the screenplays for four previous films, including 2015’s The Lobster and 2017’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Lanthimos, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe and Kasia Malipan serve as producers on the new project.

During a British Film Institute event in January, Lanthimos teased what audiences can expect from Kinds of Kindness. “It’s three different stories, and we’re finishing the edit right now, and I still can’t tell you exactly what it is about,” he said at the time. “But I also wouldn’t want to tell you what I thought the stories are about because it just makes it so small. I try not to even think about it during the process because I’m afraid that it will make my choices more narrow.”

Poor Things earned 11 Oscar nominations and four wins, including Stone’s second Academy Award trophy for best actress following 2016’s La La Land. Poor Things — which also prevailed over the weekend with Oscars for best production design, costume design, and makeup and hairstyling — has surpassed $100 million at the global box office.

In addition to Kinds of Kindness, Stone is set to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler in Ari Aster’s A24 Western film Eddington, which began production this week.
