Emma Slater is opening up about her self-care tactics.

Two years after Slater, 35, separated from her ex-husband, fellow Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Sasha Farber, she told PEOPLE that she “couldn’t be happier” spending time alone recently.

“I’ve been traveling a little bit. It’s a bit of a cliché thing to say, but spending time by myself has been the most rewarding thing that I’ve done in the last few months,” Slater said at the Race to Erase MS Gala at the Fairmont Spa Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Friday, May 10.

“Dancing with the Stars just wrapped a tour a little over a month ago, and since then I've spent some really good quality time by myself, and I haven't done that in years,” she admitted. “It has really helped me so much, and I was petrified about doing that to begin with, but I forced myself to do it.”

The dancer added that “I’m truly dating myself, and I love that.”

Slater and Farber tied the knot in 2018 after years of dating — and after an engagement during a live taping of DWTS in October 2016. After four years of marriage, the pair split in 2022, with a source telling PEOPLE in 2023 that “there's no bad blood” and the divorce was amicable.

For Slater, being by herself is absolutely “enough for now.”

“I think it's that I'm enough by myself, and I don't need to be with anybody to feel kind of validated and happy, and that I can make myself happy,” she said.

Despite her recent, refreshing time alone, Slater and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky sparked dating rumors last year when they were spotted holding hands after being paired together for DWTS.

They shut the dating rumors down in October 2023, with Umansky stating they were “not dating.” The pair have kept in touch as friends.

“He's doing good,” Slater told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “I mean, he's so busy right now. He came out with Buying Beverly Hills recently, and I think he's been traveling a lot also and just working really, really hard, but he's doing so great.”

The dancer also opened up about her dream DWTS partner — a Saturday Night Live alum-turned-romantic lead.

“Well, Andy Samberg,” she revealed. “Yeah, because I love a funny man, and I've seen him dance in a [movie] called Palm Springs, albeit quite loose and a bit goofy, but that kind of stole my heart and I just love that type of personality.”
