Much has changed in the 2.5 years since Emma Roberts bought her current L.A. home. Since then, the Hollywood scion and “American Horror Story” star has become coupled to her present beau, fellow actor Garrett Hedlund, with whom she’s currently expecting a baby, and she subsequently inked a coveted Hulu deal to develop an upcoming TV drama series.

2020 happened, too, and all the accompanying life changes have led Roberts to quietly sell her historic Los Feliz villa in an off-market deal that closed last week, property records reveal. The roughly $5.9 million sale price is nearly 50% more than the $4 million Roberts paid in spring 2018, though the big-spending buyer’s identity remains unidentified, shielded behind a mysteriously-named offshore entity headquartered in the British Virgin Islands.

Completed in 1922 — mere months after Woodrow Wilson left the White House — and painted a spicy goldenrod yellow, the three-story residence sits within the exclusive Laughlin Park gated community and offers 3 bedrooms and 4 baths over three full floors and about 3,800 square feet of space. The fully updated interiors offer gleaming walnut hardwood floors, mahogany built-ins throughout, and a distinctly early-2000s kitchen with granite countertops and a full truckload of name-brand stainless appliances, including a snazzy SubZero fridge equipped with a glass door.

There are more lavish amenities, too, which are not limited to a cozy den with convenient wet bar, a master suite with two custom closet and a spa-style bathroom, a skylight-topped foyer, and multiple sets of French doors that open to petite balconies or expansive patios, one of them surrounding a tree-shaded swimming pool with inset spa. The lushly landscaped .28-acre lot is fully walled and high-hedged, and equipped with a detached garage painted to match the main house.

Though it’s just minutes from central Hollywood, the peaceful Laughlin Park enclave feels a world apart, secluded in its own little bubble of paradise, only temporarily and tangentially trapped within in the city of Los Angeles. As such, current neighborhood homeowners are a veritable who’s who of the entertainment industry, including Angelina Jolie, Ellen Pompeo, will.i.am, Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, Netflix CCO Rachel Whetstone, and high-profile music producer Jeff Bhasker. And then there’s “Pretty Little Liars” alum Ashley Benson, who has owned not one but two homes in the community.
