Emma Roberts Celebrates Son Rhodes' 3rd Birthday: 'Happy Birthday to the Sweetest Soul'

"I love you Rhodes! Here’s to 3," wrote the 'American Horror Story' star

Emma Roberts is celebrating her son's third birthday!

The actress, 32, shared a series of sweet photos on Instagram as she celebrated her son Rhodes Robert Hedlund, who turned 3 on Wednesday.

Roberts posted a black and white photo on Instagram that showed her smiling at Rhodes while he smiled at the camera.

“Happy Birthday to the sweetest soul. I love you Rhodes! Here’s to 3! ❤️,” Roberts captioned the post.

The American Horror Story actress also shared snapshots of her son on her Instagram Stories, including one picture showing herself cuddling Rhodes as she smiles back to the camera and her son stares off into the distance.

She captioned the first celebratory Instagram Story, “happy birthday Roadie!”

The second Instagram Story included a snapshot of a portrait of Rhodes in a seemingly homemade picture frame. “HBD angel boy," Roberts wrote.

Roberts shares Rhodes — who was born on Dec. 27, 2020 — with ex Garrett Hedlund.

Shortly after they celebrated Rhodes' first birthday, PEOPLE confirmed that Roberts and Hedlund split in January 2022.

In January, Roberts shared with PEOPLE that being a working mom can be "really hard."

"I just see it from such a different perspective now," she told PEOPLE. "Being a mom is a full time job, so I see how for women who have full-time jobs and [are] full-time moms, it's so hard, and I have so much respect for them."

Although Roberts shared a birthday message, she has kept Rhodes out of the spotlight and has only shared a few photos of him.

On Thanksgiving, the Scream Queens alum posted an adorable photo in which she and Rhodes enjoyed a sweet moment while they stood in what looked like an apple-picking field. The actress held Rhodes in her arms and made a silly face while he sucked on his pacifier.

"Grateful ❤️," she captioned the photo.

The We're the Millers actress also shared a photo of her son apple-picking in October. In the Instagram post, the mother-son are photographed apple picking together. Roberts held up a plastic bag with her son's name on it while the toddler placed an apple in the bag.

"Fall 🍁 🍎 💙," the star captioned her photo.
