Eminem to Critics of His Show’s Loud Gunshot Sound Effects: “You Shouldn’t Be Here”

A loud, sudden noise at his Bonnaroo show startled members of the audience

After his performance at Bonnaroo last week, Eminem faced criticism from fans who were alarmed by a sudden loud gunshot-like sound effect. The sound effect played after his song “Kill You.” During his performance at Firefly Music Festival last night, he displayed a message to anyone who has a problem with his choice of sound effects: “If you are easily frightened by loud noises or offended by explicit lyrics you shouldn’t be here.”

Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg responded to reports that the show featured the sound of gunshots earlier this week. “The effect used by Eminem in his set at Bonnaroo was a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom,” he wrote on Instagram. “He has used this effect—as have hundreds other artists—in his live show for over 10 years, including previous US festival dates in 2018 without complaint.”
