Emily Ratajkowski Transformed Divorce Heartbreak Into High Fashion with a Stunning New Accessory

Drawing inspiration from her friend Stephanie Danler’s essay “The Unravelers” in The Paris Review, she embarked on a mission to repurpose her engagement ring into something that reflected her current state: confidently single and unapologetically fabulous.
“I loved the idea of a ring unabashedly representing the many lives a woman has lived…,” she told Vogue, referencing a story in her friend’s essay. “[It] includes the story of her grandmother’s snake ring — a ring that is made up of the different stones from her various marriages,” says Ratajkowski.
Teaming up with Alison Chemla, the creative mind behind fine jewelry brand Alison Lou, they crafted a set of rings. One ring took the form of a bold pear-shaped diamond worn on the pinky, while the other featured a princess cut diamond, elevated with trapezoid stones on either side for that extra bit of flair.
In addition to being inspired by her friend’s essay, Ratajkowski also drew inspiration from Rihanna, the queen of turning personal flair into a global fashion statement. “I was very inspired by Rihanna’s diamond pinky-toe ring — I liked the idea of my former wedding ring ending up on my pinky,” Ratajkowski revealed.
The result? A pair of rings that not only symbolize Ratajkowski’s newfound independence but also serve as a stylish testament to her ability to forge beauty and strength from the ashes of the past. In doing so, she’s not just moving on; she’s stepping out in unparalleled style, proving that when life gives you lemons, sometimes the best response is to craft them into revenge-style, diamond rings.
