Emily Ratajkowski is spearheading the revival of a '90s-esque staple.

Seen on the sidewalks of New York City this week, the model wore a sultry black cocktail dress. The mini featured a tie front, sheer mesh panelling, and abdominal cutouts that exposed her midriff. She finished the look off with a matching bolero cardigan, a trend that's clearly making a comeback.

As for accessories, Ratajkowski kept with the black monochrome theme. Tying the fit together, she held a tiny black leather bag and wore black leather knee high boots. She also accessorized with silver hoop earrings.

Meanwhile, on the beauty side, her hair was thrown into a messy updo, leaving strands in the front to frame her face, while her makeup was left minimally done.

Ratajkowski’s affinity for a little black dress is well documented.

Seen earlier this month at the Tribeca Film Festival, the My Body author wore a similar style, dressing it up at the time with strappy sandals and tortoise shell sunnies. She was also photographed at Milan Fashion Week wearing yet another black dress, this time a midi with an asymmetrical neckline from JW Anderson for their show.

In an essay she wrote for BAZAAR in 2019, the model opened up about her fashion choices, explaining how she feels empowered by her style—irrespective of the backlash she receives.

"Despite the countless experiences I’ve had in which I was made to feel extremely ashamed and, at times, even gross for playing with sexiness, it felt good to play with my feminine side then, and it still does now," she wrote. "I like feeling sexy in the way that makes me, personally, feel sexy. Period."
