Emily Ratajkowski Defends Melania Trump and Calls Out a N.Y. Times Reporter

Actress and model Emily Ratajkowski is a known feminist and a Bernie Sanders supporter. But she put her politics aside on Monday when she defended Melania Trump against a reporter’s derogatory comment.

Ratajkowski tweeted, “Sat next to a journalist from the New York Times last night who told me, ‘Melania is a hooker.’ Whatever your politics, it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history, and no one should.”

Last week, Melania Trump refiled her lawsuit against the Daily Mail after the publication reported in August that the first lady worked for a high-end escort service. Melania has denied those allegations as 100% false.

The first lady took to Twitter on Monday and acknowledged Ratajkowski.

Jacob Bernstein came forward on Tuesday to identify himself as the said reporter. Bernstein has addressed his conversation with Ratajkowski with a statement saying, “Speaking at a party in what I thought was a personal conversation, I nevertheless made a stupid remark about the first lady. My editors have made it clear my behavior was not in keeping with the standards of the Times, and I agree.”

Melania Trump has committed to becoming an advocate for women and children against cyberbullying. As first lady, she’ll focus her efforts in finding ways to end bullying on social media.
