The 'Fall Guy' actress said the spider was the size of a bird
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski had a memorable encounter with a large spider while abroad.
On the April 29 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actress, 41, shared a story about living in the Australian outback while she was filming The Fall Guy. “Australia was very welcoming — loved it,” the Oppenheimer Oscar nominee told Kimmel. “The spiders were also very welcoming.”
Her husband of 13 years, Krasinski, 44, “is very good with most insects, but he's got a bit of a thing about spiders.”
Nevertheless, when Blunt glimpsed a huge huntsman spider inside the house they were staying in, she told Krasinski, “You're up. You're up. Nope. I'm not. I'm not. I won't," she recalled.

Just how big was the creature? “You know when people go, ‘It was the size of your hand’? It was like a bird in full wingspan,” said Blunt.
The actress then watched, she recalled, as Krasinski put a piece of Tupperware over the spider while “trying to act kinda cool about it. ... I got the paper and I slid the paper under. Well, I handed it, and kinda backed up,” she added.
“He got outside and it was pitch black, so he couldn't see,” continued Blunt, describing the sensation of the spider trapped within the Tupperware. “Then he released it and shook it out — but didn't know if it was out because it was dark!”
Kimmel praised Krasinski’s “heroism” during the wild encounter, saying, “He’s Jack Ryan and neither one of us are.”
But, added Blunt, “Why did he keep the Tupperware? I don’t want it! I’m not going to put the leftover pesto in it. Just chuck it!”

Speaking of The Fall Guy, Blunt discussed starring as the movie-within-a-movie’s director opposite Ryan Gosling as its stunt double. Directed by David Leitch, the action-comedy also features Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Stephanie Hsu.
Fresh off of Barbie, Gosling, 43, was a hero to Blunt and Krasinski’s daughters, Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, she added.
“You and Ryan Gosling have really great chemistry,” Kimmel told Blunt. The Quiet Place star responded wryly, “Ryan Gosling has more chemistry than a meth lab, let’s be honest. He has it just brimming out of him.”
The Fall Guy is in theaters May 3. Among Krasinski’s upcoming projects is directing the Ryan Reynolds-led comedy IF.
