What’s old is new again. Fanny packs, Dr. Martens, vintage t-shirts, and now the Quack Attack is back, Jack.

The classic 90’s hockey film The Mighty Ducks is getting a TV series reboot with Disney’s new streaming service Disney+, and the iconic bench boss himself will reportedly be returning as a lead character.

Emilio Estevez held the role of Coach Gordon Bombay in the 1992 original The Mighty Ducks, the 1994 sequel D2: The Mighty Ducks, and cameo’d for the 1996 D3: The Mighty Ducks. He will return in a starring role for the ten-episode series.

Slash Film published a leaked logline explaining the series premise: “After getting kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, a 13-year-old boy and his mom decide to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play.”

One could imagine that pulling Coach Bombay out of retirement to return to the helms of another successful Mighty Ducks team could be part of the script.

No release date on Disney+ has yet been set but production is reportedly beginning in Vancouver this March.
