Emilia Clarke Says She Won't Be Back for More 'Terminator' Films

Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator: Genisys’ (Paramount)

Terminator: Genisys, the fifth film in the Terminator franchise, was hardly a slam-dunk smash for Paramount. It made $89 million in North America, which isn’t much for a supposed tentpole film, and received pretty scathing reviews when it was released last July. While the studio was said to be hoping for a TV spin-off and two more sequels, those plans have been put on hold. Earlier this year, Paramount pulled the sixth Terminator film from its 2017 release schedule.

It’s not terribly surprising, then, that Emilia Clarke, who played a young Sarah Connor in Genisys, told ComingSoon.net she won’t appear in any more Terminator movies.

“No,” she said, when asked if she might reprise the Connor role in the future. “Can I say that? It’s okay. No. Uh-uh.”

Clarke is plenty busy with other things anyway, including an upcoming starring role in the romantic weeper Me Before You (scroll down for trailer) and her standing gig as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones. Even if Paramount decides to get back in the Terminator business — which, given the fixation on franchises, seems likely to happen at some point — the Mother of Dragons does not have time for that. She has other realms to conquer.
