Riverdale airs Luke Perry's final scene as Fred Andrews

Riverdale has officially aired its last scene with the late Luke Perry.

The actor, who died last month at 52 following a stroke, played Fred Andrews, father to Archie (K.J. Apa), for three seasons on the hit CW series. Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously announced that this week’s episode would be Perry’s last with a message that said, “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…”

Now we know what that moment was. After Archie found out that Randy Ronson — the man he knocked out in the ring in the last episode — had died, he returned home with his father. Archie was ready to blame himself for Ronson’s death, despite the fact that Ronson had taken drugs before the fight, and Fred wouldn’t let him. Standing in his kitchen, Fred assured his son that Ronson died because of the drugs, and with his final words, he told Archie, “You’re innocent.”

Now the question becomes how the show will handle the character of Fred moving forward. No announcement has yet been made.
