Riverdale Airs Bittersweet Final Episode That Luke Perry Filmed — Nearly 2 Months After His Death

Riverdale fans are saying goodbye to Luke Perry‘s character.

Perry, who died on March 4 after suffering a massive stroke, played beloved Fred Andrews for nearly three seasons on the drama. And on Wednesday night’s episode, the late actor appeared in the final scene that he filmed for the CW series ahead of his death.

After Archie (K.J. Apa) was accused of murdering fellow boxer Randy during a fight in the ring, Fred attempted to comfort his son.

“From everything you’ve said, it’s clear Randy died from those drugs. An autopsy will support that. You’re innocent,” Fred told Archie.

The teenager had doubts, though: “I’m not, dad. I knew. I knew Randy was using. I could have stopped the fight, but I didn’t want to forfeit.”

“I’m never stepping into that ring ever again,” Archie continued. “I can’t.”

It’s not clear how Fred’s storyline will end, but Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed on Sunday that this week’s episode was the last one that the actor filmed.

“This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed,” Aguirre-Sacasa wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of Perry as Archie’s dad. “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son.”

“Wish these scenes could go on forever…❤️]]>🏆💎👨🏻💻
