Fear the Walking Dead sets season 5 premiere, NOS4A2 drops first trailer

As The Walking Dead season 9 comes to a close this Sunday, AMC is looking ahead with new announcements coming out of WonderCon in Anaheim, Calif. this weekend. That includes the premiere date and plot details for Fear the Walking Dead season 5, as well as the first trailer for Zachary Quinto’s new horror series NOS4A2.

Fear‘s return date and NOS4A2‘s premiere are one and the same: Sunday, June 2. First it’s the latest from the Walking Dead spin-off at 9:00 p.m. ET, then it’s Quinto’s debut as a soul-sucking immortal at 10:00 p.m. ET.

With the latest Walking Dead crossover, Austin Amelio (Dwight) moves to the spin-off for season 5 to join Lennie James, Colman Domingo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Danay Garcia, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, and Alexa Nisenson.

“In Fear the Walking Dead season 5, the group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place,” reads the official plot synopsis. “With dogged determination, Morgan Jones (James) leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts. But trust won’t be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.”

Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg return as showrunners after their appointment in season 4, which marked James arrival on Fear.

NOS4A2, showrun by Jami O’Brien, is based on Joe Hill’s novel of the same name from 2013.

Ashleigh Cummings stars as Vic Queen, a young woman with the supernatural ability to find lost things, which means she’s perhaps the best person to find the missing children taken by Charlie Manx (Quinto). Manx is an immortal who feeds on the souls of children before depositing what’s left of them in Christmasland, described as “a twisted place of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law.”

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jahkara Smith, and Virginia Kull also star in the new series.
