Avatar 2 is adding to its cast!

Michelle Yeoh is set to star as human scientist Dr. Karina Mogue in James Cameron‘s upcoming sequel to his 2009 blockbuster Avatar, according to Variety.

Yeoh, 56, is joining Zoë Saldana, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Sigourney Weaver, David Thewlis and Edie Falco.

The Crazy Rich Asians star is currently starring in CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery. She’s previously worked on the Oscar-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Cameron, 64, has four Avatar sequels in the works, the second of which will be released in December 2020.

While the plot for the highly-anticipated sequel remains largely under wraps, Cameron gave a few tidbits about what to expect in a new interview with Empire in February.

And the director said that one “critical” scene is about an argument between the two main stars that is witnessed by their daughter.

“There’s a three-page argument scene between Jake and Neytiri, a marital dispute, very, very critical to the storyline,” Cameron told Empire. “I wound up shooting it all from the point of view of the eight-year-old hiding under the structure and peeking in.”

The director also opened up about reuniting with his Titanic star Winslet in a February interview with Vulture, saying the actress “was a phenomenal collaborator and just so gung-ho” about preparing for her role as Ronal, a free-diving member of the Pandoran race, in Avatar 2.

“She was a dream to work with — not the pain in the a— that she was the first time,” he joked. “No, she was a dream on Titanic as well.”

Avatar 2 is scheduled for release in December 2020.
