Elvis star Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, have paid tribute to singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, who died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest. The celebrity couple came to know Presley during the making of Baz Luhrmann's 2022 biopic of her late father.

"We are heartbroken over the loss of Lisa Marie Presley. Absolutely broken…" reads a brief statement shared to Hanks' Instagram.

Wilson went more in depth. "Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour," she wrote, attributing the statement to her and Hanks. "Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie. She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad."

Elvis stars recent Golden Globe winner Austin Butler as the titular legend, while Hanks portrayed Col. Tom Parker, the musician's former manager.

"She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her, who made us all laugh," Wilson continued. "She privately showed us her home, Graceland, and she made it feel like home to us. She was so gracious to us, Austin, Baz, and guests. If you haven't heard her music, please go listen. She had a sultry voice, a power and tenderness, that I have always loved."

Wilson and Hanks also sent condolences to Presley's family. "A mother should never have to lose a child. Lisa Marie lost her precious son Benjamin; [Presley's mom] Priscilla loses her only daughter. It's too much," the statement concluded. (Benjamin Keough died in 2020 by suicide.)

Presley died at the age of 54 on Thursday, two days after attending the Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles in support of Elvis. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association released their own statement on her death, calling the To Whom It May Concern artist "an extremely talented singer-songwriter and a very welcome presence at the Golden Globes this past Tuesday."

More tributes to Presley have been flooding in from peers in the industry.

Nicolas Cage, who was married to Presley from 2002 to 2004, said his ex-wife "had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met" in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken," he added. "I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin."

Luhrmann took to Instagram to praise Presley, sharing a photo of her with Butler. "Over the last year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have felt the privilege of Lisa Marie's kind embrace," the director wrote. "Her sudden, shocking loss has devastated people all around the world. I know her fans everywhere join me in sharing prayers of love and support with her mother, Priscilla, and her wonderful daughters Riley, Finley, and Harper."

He concluded, "Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile, your love."

Butler released a statement to EW on Saturday, saying, "My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie. I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love, and her authenticity will always be remembered."

Elvis actress Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla Presley in the biopic, also expressed her grief and celebrated Lisa Marie's life on social media. "Shattered," she wrote on her Instagram Story. "Privileged to have felt her magnificent presence. And forever indebted to her, for the kindness and love she showed me and the entire Elvis family. All of my love to Priscilla, Riley, Harper and Finley."

John Branca, executor of the Estate of Michael Jackson, said in a statement on behalf of him and co-executor John McClain: "We are saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Michael's former wife, Lisa Marie Presley. Michael cherished the special bond they enjoyed, as apparent in the official video for 'You Are Not Alone,' and was comforted by Lisa Marie's generous love, concern, and care during their times together."

He added, "Bringing these two special people together was a memorable moment resulting in a union full of genuine affection and care for each other. My deepest sympathies remain with Lisa's family. Our hearts are with Lisa Marie's children — Riley, Harper, and Finley — and her mother, Priscilla, in this difficult time."

Singer LeAnn Rimes said she hopes Presley "is at peace in her dad's arms" in a tweet. "My heart goes out to her family. Too much grief in just a couple of years."
