Ellie Goulding Offers Up Fresh ‘Shades of Grey’ with New Video

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to get in the mood than with Ellie Goulding’s sweet ballad “Love Me Like You Do” — oh, and its accompanying brand-new video, which features way more spice than sugar?

The tune, which is featured on the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack, serves as a rich backdrop for a visual treatment including some new and tantalizing glimpses of the film itself. We’re not sure it’s exactly 50 moments total, but fans will get plenty of sneak peeks of actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson taking on the steamy roles of author E.L. James’s famous lovers Christian and Anastasia.

For the most part, Goulding’s video is relatively tame, focusing on a buildup between the two main characters as well as spotlighting the singer’s own ballroom dancing skills. However, for those who are looking for a bit o’ bad (this is Christian Grey we’re talking about, right?) the video does get mildly NSFW in the final minute or so, starting with a pivotal lip-biting scene and moving rapidly on to a variety of other hot shots.

Christian’s scarred chest? Check. Whips? Check. Blindfold? Check. Ice cubes, wrist restraints, bare-thigh closeups? Check, check, check. Is it getting warm in here?

All in all, Goulding’s video should be plenty to whet all lovers’ appetites for the official release of the film on February 13. Goulding’s song, along with music from other artists including Beyoncé, the Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, and Annie Lennox, will be available on the movie’s soundtrack, which hits the streets three days earlier.
