Ellen DeGeneres Jokes Her Star-Studded Birthday Bash Is Responsible for the Recent Tequila Shortage

Ellen DeGeneres rang in her 60th birthday on Saturday in the greatest way possible: surrounded by famous pals, delicious food and a lot of booze.

On her show on Tuesday, DeGeneres joked that there was so much tequila present at her star-studded bash—which was thrown by her wife Portia de Rossi at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood—that she thinks she may be responsible for the looming world-wide shortage of the alcohol.

“I came into work on Monday and I saw [the headlines] and I thought, ‘Oops, I think I’m responsible for that. I think that’s my fault,’ ” she joked.

The talk show host had an inkling that one of her guests was the main culprit, too. “I don’t want to blame anyone in particular but I saw someone sitting at the bar drinking all night long,” she said. “I’ll just give her first name: Oprah. Yeah, you can figure out which Oprah it was.”

Notable guests like Reese Witherspoon, Adele, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Amy Schumer, Bruno Mars, Melissa McCarthy and Jennifer Aniston, also noshed on party food catered by chef Tal Ronnen of Crossroads restaurant in Los Angeles.

“Thanks, Tal Ronnen at @Crossroads, for the incredible food at my party. People were raving about the Impossible Burgers,” tweeted DeGeneres—a vegetarian—of the plant-based patties that look, cook and taste like real beef burgers.

As for entertainment, DeGeneres recruited many of her friends like P!nk, Pharrell Williams, Melissa Etheridge, French Montana and Alessia Cara to take the stage.

“Here’s a money saving tip for you: don’t hire a band, invite all your musician friends,” she shared on Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “It turns out they’ll just perform for free—especially when there’s Don Julio involved.”
