BRISTOL — Elkhart Civic Theatre will hold auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof” at 6:30 p.m. May 15 and 16 at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St.

Winner of nine Tony Awards when it debuted in 1964, “Fiddler on the Roof” centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters.

With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill in them traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Auditions will consist of vocals and choreography followed by a round of callbacks that will include cold readings from the script as well as some additional vocals.

Auditioners do not need to prepare anything.

All materials will be taught at auditions.

Bring a list of all potential conflicts from May 20 to Aug. 4.

Note that although “Fiddler on the Roof” is set in early 20th century Russia, ECT is seeking a diverse company of actors that reflects the world today.

Performances are July 26 to Aug. 4 at the Bristol Opera House.
