Elizabeth Warren Frustrates CBS Anchors After Refusing to Answer Questions on Democratic Endorsement

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren was on Thursday’s CBS This Morning and managed to frustrate co-hosts Norah O’Donnell, Gayle King, and Charlie Rose with her continuing reluctance to endorse either Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary.

“All of your female Democratic senators have endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton,” O’Donnell mentioned. “You have not yet made an endorsement. Will you do it before the convention?” “I don’t have a timeline for this,” responded Sen. Warren. “You know your lack of an endorsement at this stage has raised some questions,” O’Donnell said. “Let me ask you this — do you believe that Sen. Clinton should release the transcripts of her speeches to Goldman Sachs?” “Look, I think that our candidates are out doing what they should do in a primary,” responded Sen. Warren, punting on giving a yes or no. “They are debating the issues.” “You’re not answering my question, Senator,” O’Donnell replied.

Why hasn’t Sen. Warren endorsed a candidate? There isn’t really any need for her to. Warren has become a liberal icon and possibly the most influential progressive in Congress. With the amount of goodwill she enjoys from Democratic voters, it’s doubtful she would need to curry favor with either Clinton or Sanders at this point. Still, CBS tried getting an answer.
