The duo will star in The Miniature Wife, a romantic dramedy that the NBCUniversal-owned streamer has ordered straight to series.

From creators, showrunners and exec producers Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (Boardwalk Empire), the series is based on the short story written by Manuel Gonzalez. Miniature Wife is described as “a high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses, Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfadyen), who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.”

Banks (Pitch Perfect) and Macfadyen (Succession) also exec produce alongside Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer.

The series was taken out to streamers earlier this year and ignited a bidding war before landing at Peacock with the sizable straight to series pickup.

At Peacock, Miniature Wife joins a roster of scripted originals that also includes Based on a True Story, Bel-Air, Fight Night, Laid, Poker Face and Ted, among others.

Macfadyen continues to be in high demand following his Emmy-winning turn in HBO’s Succession. In February, he signed on to star opposite Michael Shannon in Death by Lightning, a Netflix drama from the creators of Game of Thrones that is described as a dramatic retelling the rise of U.S. President James Garfield (Shannon) and his subsequent assassination by Charles Guiteau (Macfadyen).

For Banks, the series marks her return to Peacock where she executive produced the Pitch Perfect TV offshoot Bumper in Berlin. The series, despite being renewed for a second season, was scrapped after a single season.
