Elijah Blue Allman's Lawyer Slams Cher's Legal Team, Accusing Them of Trying to Leave Him 'Dry'

In January, Cher's ex parte motion that her son Allman be placed in a temporary emergency conservatorship was denied

The conservatorship case involving Cher and her son Elijah Blue Allman remains ongoing — and his lawyers believe that this is on purpose.

“We are concerned that this is an effort to continue this case further and further until Mr. Allman is left dry," Steven Bremer, Allman's attorney said in a Wednesday hearing in Los Angeles, referencing the delay in filing a supplement from Cher's side.

The hearing comes after Cher's ex parte motion that Allman, 47, be placed in a temporary emergency conservatorship due to his alleged mental health and substance abuse issues was denied by a judge in January.

Now, Allman — who attended the hearing with wife Marieangela "Queeny" King — and Cher, 77 — who was not present — must come to a settlement and the judge suggested private mediation. Cher's lawyer, Gabrielle Vidal, said the singer will pay for a mediator but Allman — who the judge noted has received his distributions from the trust and has funds in his own name — doesn't want to pay for the extra attorney fees.

“This is not like a family law matter where several issues need to be resolved. There is one issue and that is the conservatorship of my client," Bremer said, adding that he won't settle for conservatorship. "I’m not certain what middle ground we can find."

Meanwhile, Cher's side — who sent subpoenas for Allman's medical records — won't settle for supportive decision making because her son can still hire and fire them when he pleases.

A mandatory settlement conference hearing has been set for Oct. 3 if both parties do not settle before then.

During the January hearing, the superstar seemed distraught while her attorneys spoke about her concern for Allman's health and safety.

Cher’s lawyers explained that she filed the temporary injunction because of how dire she saw the situation, as she hoped to handle the money Allman is owed from his trust so that it is managed for his benefit.

Her attorney explained that “she feared that her son would not be alive within the year” due to two alleged ongoing issues that they pointed to, including a “history of drug use” and his “schizoaffective disorder” diagnosis. Cher's lawyer also stated they expected to receive a bipolar diagnosis for Allman from a “leading physician.”

“Cher was told by doctors that if she did not take this step as his mother that he will once again end up on the street,” the Grammy winner’s attorney said.

The judge ruled against Cher’s proposed injunction because Allman has proved “he has managed his finances” and "has remained drug free” after multiple drug tests were administered.

In her initial December 2023 filing, Cher requested the temporary conservatorship over her son's estate as the sole conservator, claiming that he was "substantially unable to manage his financial resources." The conservatorship request came months after court documents revealed that King claimed Cher once had Allman forcibly removed from a hotel room.

Regarding the abduction allegations, Cher exclusively told PEOPLE in October “that rumor is not true” and declined to comment further. But she confirmed that the private family matter is related to her son’s ongoing addiction issues.

“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher said of watching her son’s yearslong struggles with substance abuse at the time. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”

Allman and King made a rare appearance in February at Christine Peake's comedy show to benefit Breast Cancer Bandit at Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood. A source told PEOPLE that Allman appeared healthy and in good spirits as he and King mingled with some of the performing comedians and DJ Paul Oakenfold.

While chatting with other event attendees, King was heard saying that she and Allman have "never been stronger." After the show, King could be heard remarking, "that’s what we needed, to be around friends and laugh."

Cher also recently stepped out to sit front row at the Balmain fashion show in Paris with her boyfriend Alexander "AE" Edwards.
