Eli: Netflix horror hit so terrifying viewers are ‘seeing demons out of the corner of their eyes’

New Netflix horror movie Eli is terrifying viewers to such an extent that some have claimed to be “seeing demons” after watching.

Starring Kelly Reilly, Charlie Shotwell and Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink, Eli revolves around a young boy with an auto-immune disorder that means he is unable to interact with the outside world and must stay locked inside of a special plastic suit.

Eli’s parents take him to a strange remote facility that enables him to finally step out of his suit and physically interact with others – all while undergoing mysterious experiments the facility’s doctor claims will heal his illness.

Eli then begins experiencing supernatural visions and starts to believe all is not what it seems.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “I just watched Eli on Netflix and I SWEAR I’m seeing demons out of the corner of my eyes – HELP!”

Others have complained about strange experiences occurring immediately after watching, another person tweeting: “Watched that new horror movie on Netflix Eli yesterday… and my office door just slowly creaked open for no reason.”

Eli's twist ending, which radically alters its genre and upends much of what we had previously been told about the film’s characters, has also been met with shock and praise.

“I'm watching Eli on Netflix,” one tweet reads. “Man, this movie is crazy af.”

Another declared: “[Eli] starts off as your stereotypical bubble boy meets haunted house with evil spirits thrown in.

“But the writers must have done HELLA drugs towards the end of writing the script because the last 20 minutes are a rollercoaster of bats**t insanity!”

Eli, which was originally made for cinema release by Paramount Pictures, was off-loaded to Netflix in December 2018.

Deadline reported that Paramount had struggled to decide how to promote the film.
