‘Elf’ Turns 20: Here’s Where to Stream the Festive Film and Shop the Cutest Buddy Merch (Exclusive)
Buddy the Elf, the loveable human (played by Will Ferrell) adopted by the North Pole’s hardest-working holiday crew, has been spreading Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear for two decades To celebrate, Elf is taking over the Big Apple and rolling out exclusive collaborations for the family-friendly film’s 20th anniversary.
The heartwarming movie is currently streaming online at Max, and it will be available to stream on Hulu on Nov. 23. You can also buy Elf on Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple TV and other streaming-on-demand video platforms for $19.99, or you can purchase it on sale for up to 52 percent off on DVD and Blu-ray, and even on VHS tape. The Food Network will also air a special Elf-inspired “Christmas Cookie Challenge” episode on Nov. 23. Cable subscribers can also catch Elf on TBS and TNT in November and on AMC in December.
Elf is also toasting its 20th birthday with a Big Apple takeover starting on Nov. 7 when it illuminates the Empire State Building. The iconic New York landmark — which is, after all, where Buddy’s dad works at the fictional Greenway Press — will feature shoppable window displays through Jan. 1, 2024, host pop-up events and movie screenings (Dec. 3, 10 and 17) and house a free photo opp at the 86th floor Observatory starting Nov. 10. On Nov. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. ET, a pop-up cart will serve up free treats from the elves’ four main food groups (candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup) to guests who buy tickets to the observatory; learn more here.
Fans can also sport Buddy and Jovie’s festive style with exclusive Instagram and Snapchat filters, and the holiday film is also dropping exclusive products at WB Shop and releasing collaborations with other brands. And through Nov. 5, those who shop at WB’s online store save $10 off orders of $75 and up with the code EARLYDEALS.

The film follows Buddy (Ferrell), an orphaned human who, as a baby, crawls into Santa’s toy bag on Christmas. Adopted by Papa Elf, he is raised at the North Pole as a toymaker until he decides to discover his true identity. Directed by Jon Favreau, Elf also stars Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenbergen, Ed Asner, Bob Newhart, Peter Dinklage, Amy Sedaris, Andy Richter, Kyle Gass and more.
