Election Week Delivers Record Monday-Friday Ratings For Fox News Channel

The walk-up to and aftermath of Donald Trump’s stunning White House win brought Fox News Channel its biggest five-day work-week audience ever both in primetime (6 million viewers) and total day (3.4M). FNC surpassed all basic-cable networks in total day, in total viewers and with adults 25-54 (1M).

CNN was the top-ranked cable network, Monday through Friday, in primetime in the news demo (1.9M viewers), while FNC won primetime with total viewers.

Nielsen is expected to release full-week numbers tomorrow.

In total day from election eve through Friday, CNN logged 2.2M total viewers and MSNBC 1.4M. CNN averaged 941K news-demo viewers, and MSNBC nabbed 424K.

In primetime, FNC logged 1.8M news demo viewers, behind CNN but ahead of MSNBC’s 852K. In overall audience, CNN (4.3M) came in behind FNC but bested MSNBC’s 2.6M.

Fueling these stats, Tuesday of last week delivered the most-watched Election Night in cable news history. Between 7 PM ET, when many polls closed on the East Coast, and 3 AM, when Hillary Clinton finally threw in the towel, Fox News Channel led with 12.2M viewers, as well as 4.8M viewers in the 25-54 news demo. They were FNC’s highest numbers ever for an Election Night. CNN logged 11.2M viewers in the same span of time, and a higher 5.7M viewers in the news demo. Another 5.2M total viewers, and 2.1M news demo viewers, chose MSNBC to witness real estate developer-turned-reality star become the 45th POTUS.
