Elderly Georgia Man Arrested For Wife's Murder The Day After Her Funeral

An elderly Georgia man was arrested the day after his wife's funeral and charged with her murder.

Bruce Miller, 82, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 28 for murder, felony murder, and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, according to jail records reviewed by Oxygen.com and a press release from the Roswell (Georgia) Police Department. His wife, Judith Miller, 80, was his alleged victim.

Police were called to the couple's Roswell home by Bruce Miller around 4:00 p.m. on Sept. 15 for a reported suicide, police say. Judith Miller was found dead of a stab wound in the home, with Bruce Miller allegedly telling police the wound was self-inflicted and intended by his wife to end her own life.

While police investigated Judith Miller's alleged suicide and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office performed her autopsy, her surviving relatives — including her husband and daughter — planned her memorial service.

Those services — including her wake, funeral and interment — were conducted beginning on Tuesday morning, according to her obituary.

But while the family was mourning her loss, jail records reflect that law enforcement was filing charges against Bruce Miller, after his wife's autopsy and the police investigation showed her stab wound was the result of a homicide, not a suicide.

On Wednesday, Bruce Miller was arrested and booked into the Fulton County Jail. Jail records do not reflect that bond has yet been set in the case.

Police did not release an alleged motive in the case and did not immediately respond to Oxygen.com's request for comment.

Judith Miller grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio and attended Hillsdale College in Michigan, according to her obituary. Her family wrote that she was known for her "love of nature, travel, reading, drawing and all those aspects of life which bring us altogether versus apart."

The Millers were married for 56 years, according to her obituary, and she is survived by the couple's daughter, two grandsons and her brother.
