El Paso star R&B singer Khalid was in a car accident recently, according to singer Ed Sheeran, who wished the singer the best at his concert June 24 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Khalid was set to be Sheeran's opening act during Sheeran's "+-=÷x" (Mathematics) Tour.”

"I really hope Khalid gets well soon and that he’ll be joining us in Boston," Sheeran said during the unplanned opening set in Maryland, according to People Magazine.

The two are scheduled to perform July 1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

According to the article, Sheeran took the stage earlier than expected at the FedEx Field show when Khalid wasn’t able to perform. According to Sheeran, the “Young Dumb & Broke” singer, 25, is recovering.

“He is recovering, and we wish him the best,” Sheeran explained in a fan-captured video.

No further information on Khalid's condition was available.

Khalid was announced as Sheeran's opener back in October, according to Fox News.

"So excited to join my bro Ed Sheeran on tour! This will be my first time performing on a stadium run, and I’m extremely happy to be doing it with (Ed Sheeran). can’t wait to see and perform for all of you beautiful people (pun intended hahaha)," he said, referencing the Brit's famous song on which Khalid is featured, according to the article.
