El Paso ISD high schools qualify for UIL State Mariachi Festival

Four El Paso Independent School District high schools have secured spots in the esteemed 2024 UIL State Mariachi Festival.

Austin, Chapin, Coronado and Franklin High Schools impressed judges and earned Division 1 ratings at the annual UIL Area Mariachi Festival on Jan. 27.

The January festival served as a platform for high school mariachi groups from the region to exhibit their exceptional musical talents. Austin, Chapin, Coronado, and Franklin High Schools showcased their skills, solidifying their status as among the finest mariachi ensembles statewide.

Advancing to the next level, the four El Paso ISD high schools are set to compete at the UIL State Mariachi Festival in Seguin, Texas, scheduled from Feb. 22 to 24. This highly prestigious event gathers top mariachi groups from across Texas, offering them a stage to display their artistry and vie for top honors.
