EDMOND — Reelected Mayor Darrell Davis spent part of his day Wednesday at the Oklahoma Blood Institute, fulfilling its request for him to donate needed blood.

In a Facebook post, Davis told followers his efforts to support the community wouldn't be curtailed.

"Election over, but giving back to the community is not. Doing my part by donating blood today!" his post read.

Davis won Tuesday's election, holding on to his seat by beating Brian Shellem.

Davis said Wednesday the institute asked him to donate earlier in the week, and said he was happy to help once he made it through a hectic 48 hours before Tuesday's polls closed.

Unofficial election returns show Davis received 6,479 votes, or about 52% of the vote in his reelection race, compared to 5,983 votes gathered by Shellem, a first-time municipal candidate.

Davis, a retired civil servant from Tinker Air Force Base, sought reelection as he completed a two-year term as Edmond's mayor.

Before serving as Edmond's mayor, Davis served on Edmond's city council for nearly a decade and as a member of Edmond's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for more than a decade before that.

"I have been giving to the community for over 25 years," Davis said. "We are going in a direction where we are bringing in a variety of business, tourism and recreational opportunities.

"People are moving here for several reasons, and I have been a part of those reasons for a long time. I feel like I am part of that momentum, and I want to keep it going."

Voters also picked winners in races to fill two other seats on the council where incumbents chose not to seek reelection.

Tom Robins bested Ashley Nicole Bradley to take a seat representing downtown and parts of north Edmond, while Barry Moore narrowly won his race against Judy Rau to represent the residents within the community who live along and east of Interstate 35.

Robins was supported by 6,030 voters, or 52.7% of the vote in the citywide election for his seat against Bradley, who received 5,411 votes.

Moore won his race by getting support from 5,967 voters, compared to Rau's 5,806.

Edmond will swear in the winners of its municipal races on May 1, a city spokesperson said this week.
