“Succession” dominates all TV shows this year with nine nominations. “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building” did pick up five each to lead the comedy pack.

“My thought is ‘Succession’ getting nine nominations,” says Dixon. “It broke the record! The previous record was eight nominations for ‘The Thorn Birds’ and ‘L.A. Law,’ so congratulations ‘Succession,’ you have made Golden Globes history. I think trying to pick a winner here is pretty easy.”

The HBO drama also snagged three slots in the Best TV Drama Actor category for Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong. “A lot of people have been saying this is Kieran Culkin’s year,” says Davidson. “When I’m out in L.A., all of the billboards that I’m seeing are Brian Cox. Brian Cox’s face is all over Hollywood.” Could this mean he has the stronger campaign for this final season?

In the category for Best TV Movie/Limited Series, Richmond announces, “‘Beef’ is absolutely the favorite here. I don’t know what voters have against ‘A Small Light,’ which, if I was a voter would have been my pick to win. I would have gone with ‘Painkiller’ as well. This looks like ‘Beef’ in a walk.”

In TV Comedy Series, Montgomery confidently states, “I think ‘The Bear’ is the pretty safe winner here. ‘Only Murders in the Building’ tied it for the most nominations, but it’s a couple seasons old now. ‘The Bear’ is still slightly younger and cooler, even though it’s only one season younger.”
