"Warren Beatty was like, 'Whatever you need.' What a legend," Dornan recalls.

Online scams are everywhere. They were even the main story in a recent episode of Last Week Tonight where John Oliver made the point that they can happen to anyone. Jamie Dornan agrees.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Fifty Shades actor said a famous friend got hacked. "Eddie [Redmayne] got scammed on his email," Dornan said when asked about which of his celebrity friends he'd call in an emergency like what his character faces in The Tourist. "We all got emails saying, like, 'Guys, I'm up against it here. I need some cash.'"

It's the kind of familiar scam that would have most people hitting "archive." However, Dornan says not everyone in Redmayne's contact list did that. "Warren Beatty was like, 'What can I do?'" he told host Josh Horowitz before adding, "I think I'm ok to tell this."

Dornan did not specify when the alleged incident happened but later referenced Beatty's notorious Best Picture mistake at the 2017 Academy Awards, implying that this happened before that.

Dornan says the Dick Tracy actor may not have understood the scam but did see a person in need. "It got sent to all of [Redmayne's] contacts. I don't think we were all on there together. I wasn't like, 'Yeah, Warren, you go, you go first, I'll follow.' We all just got individual emails saying, 'Guys, I really need you to wire me some cash,'" Dornan explained. "Fair credit, Warren Beatty was like, 'Whatever you need.' What a legend."

Representatives for Redmayne and Beatty did not respond to a request for comment.
