Eddie Murphy To Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award At 2023 Golden Globes

Eddie Murphy will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 80th Annual Golden Globes.

As one of the night’s highest honors chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Board of Directors, Murphy will be recognized for his “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” The news was exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

“We’re honored to present this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award to the iconic and highly esteemed Mr. Eddie Murphy,” expressed HFPA President, Helen Hoehne. “We’re thrilled to be celebrating the lasting impact on film and television that his career – in front of and behind the camera – has had through the decades.”

Murphy, 61, has earned countless awards and honors in his storied career. Throughout the past five decades, the Nutty Professor star has received Golden Globe Award, SAG Award, Emmy Award, and Academy Award nomination among other recognitions.

Past recipients of the Award include Jane Fonda, George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Audrey Hepburn, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster, Sophia Loren, Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, and more.

The Golden Globe Awards are set for Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023. The broadcast will air live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock. Jerrod Carmichael has been named the host of “Hollywood’s Party of the Year.”
