Eddie Murphy Fights For Christmas In ‘Candy Cane Lane’ Trailer

Eddie Murphy wants to save Christmas in the first Candy Cane Lane movie trailer. Prime Video dropped the teaser on Thursday (Oct. 12), giving viewers a deeper look at the new holiday movie. Murphy is seen as a loving dad attempting to create the “best Christmas ever” for his kids. He then makes a deal with an elf to bring his dreams to life. Unbeknownst to him, he “signs over his life,” brings the 12 Days of Christmas fable to life, and must protect his family and neighborhood to celebrate the holiday season.

Candy Cane Lane will mark the first time in the 62-year-old actor’s career that he stars in his self-produced Christmas movie. Director Reginald Hudlin previously spoke about his excitement for the film. Hudlin also detailed how long he’s wanted to make his own Christmas movie with Murphy.

“I can’t wait for the world to see Candy Cane Lane,'” Hudlin said. “I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels.”

Along with the comedic legend, the trailer features a first look at its all-star ensemble. The film’s cast includes Tracee Ellis Ross as Chris’ wife, D.C. Young Fly, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Nick Offerman, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Ken Marino, and Nancy Lenehan.

Kelly Younger wrote the screenplay inspired by Younger’s childhood experiences on El Segundo’s Candy Cane Lane, and Doug Merrifield serves as executive producerMurphyBrian Grazer, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, and Karen Lunder serve as the film’s producers.

Candy Cane Lane will be released on Dec. 1, 2023 on Prime Video.
