Ed Lover has co-signed Katt Williams’ claims that Steve Harvey “hated” on Bernie Mac prior to his death, and that he even attempted to steal Bernie Mac’s role as Frank Catton in the film Oceans 11.

On Friday (Jan. 5), during an episode of his C’Mon Son! podcast, the veteran radio host and media personality backed up Williams’ comments regarding Bernie Mac and Steve Harvey’s checkered relationship.

Lover, who was a close friend of Bernie Mac up until his passing, recalled the late comedian personally informing him of Harvey’s alleged underhanded tactics. “The stuff that Katt Williams said about Steve Harvey calling to try to get Bernie’s role on Oceans 11, and that kind of stuff? Bernie told me out of his own mouth,” the New York native said. “I believe Bernie Mac when he said Steve Harvey hated on him.”

Ed Lover’s comments come in the wake of Williams’ viral Club Shay Shay interview, in which he spoke critically about a host of comedic legends, including Harvey, Cedric The Entertainer, Ricky Smiley, Chris Tucker, and Kevin Hart.

However, Williams’ remarks regarding Steve Harvey were particularly scathing, as he accused Harvey of stealing jokes and concepts from his peers while he alluded to his lack of “range” as an actor. Adding insult to injury, he likened the Family Feud host’s appearance to that of the popular Mr. Potato Head toy.

Williams accused Harvey of watching fellow comedian Mark Curry “do his whole [Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper] sitcom” and then stealing “everything Mark Curry had.” In the interview, he pointed out the similarities between Curry’s sitcom and The Steve Harvey Show, the latter of which premiered in 1996 and ran for six seasons.

“Now Steve got a sitcom where he the principal, and he wear a suit,” Katt said. “And then he gets this high-top fade, making all Black men think he got the best lineup in the business. And it’s a man unit. Then you ask him, ‘Why you not a movie star?’ ‘I didn’t want to be a movie star.’”

He continued, “This the same n*gro that hated on Bernie [Mac] with this same thing. There are 30,000 new scripts in Hollywood every year. Not one of them asked for a country bumpkin Black dude that can’t talk good […] and look like Mr. Potato Head. There ain’t none. You have to have range.”
