Ed Kemper (Edmund Kemper) is a notorious American serial killer who took the lives of eight people from 1964 to 1973. He was called the Co-ed Killer because the majority of his prey was non-familial female college students hitchhiking in Santa Cruz County, California. Furthermore, he also committed vile acts such as necrophilia, decapitation, and dismemberment.

After his trial in 1973, the court sentenced him to eight concurrent life sentences. Shockingly, it was he who requested the officials to hand him the death penalty. However, that was not possible since capital punishment was not allowed in California at the time.

Currently, the 74-year-old criminal is held in the California Medical Facility, Vacaville. This facility even held infamous names like Charles Manson and Herbert Mullin until their death.

Netflix released a TV series in 2017 titled Mindhunter, where Kemper’s role was played by actor Cameron Britton. In the first season, he appeared in four episodes. Furthermore, for his portrayal of the serial killer, Britton received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

The synopsis of Mindhunter, according to Rotten Tomatoes reads, “Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the villain’s mind to figure out how he thinks. That’s the job of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench. They attempt to understand and catch serial killers by studying their damaged psyches.”

It further reads, “Along the way, the agents pioneer the development of modern serial-killer profiling. The crime drama has a strong pedigree behind the camera, with Oscar-nominated director David Fincher and Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron among the show’s executive producers.”

She said, “Ed Kemper, if you will, was very enjoyable to talk to,” she told Fox News Digital. “He was very articulate… He had a voice that carried well, that I guess sold well.”

Ed Kemper stands at a towering height of 6 ft 9 inches. Furthermore, he has a shockingly high IQ of 136.
