Ed Asner has kind words for his former "Mary Tyler Moore Show" co-star Valerie Harper as she battles cancer.
The actor, 89, shared a tweet on Thursday sending his love to Harper, 79, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2013. His post came two days after the actress' husband shared on Facebook that Harper's doctors suggested she be moved to hospice care.
“My heart goes out to @ValerieHarper and her husband Tony,” Asner wrote. “I hope you feel my love coming at you like a tidal wave.”
The two starred on the hit '70s sitcom "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" together. Her role as Rhoda Morgenstern and Asner's role as Lou Grant won them both numerous awards. Both stars reprised their roles in respective spinoff shows as well.

Harper's husband, Tony Cacciotti, wrote on Facebook Tuesday that he will not be moving his wife of 40 years to hospice care.
"I won’t because of the amazing good deeds she has graced us with while she’s been here on earth," he wrote.
"We will continue going forward as long as the powers above allow us, I will do my very best in making Val as comfortable as possible."
He added that he will be alongside his wife where he belongs.
Earlier this month, a GoFundMe campaign was created by a family friend to help offset Harper's medical expenses.
"For those of you who have been in this position, you will totally understand that 'it’s hard letting go," wrote Cacciotti. "Many, many thanks for your outpouring of kindness and support."
