ECSO: Three children found living in 'deplorable' filth, deputies struggled with the smell

Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies Tuesday found three young children living in "deplorable living conditions" while attempting to serve an arrest warrant for assault and domestic violence at a Pensacola residence, according to ECSO.

The wanted fugitive for whom the deputies were originally searching, Justin Matthew Hall, remained at-large Wednesday.

However, another man deputies encountered at the residence while attempting to serve the warrant on Hall was taken into custody on charges in connection to allegedly allowing children to live in filth.

Kody Robin Cribbs, 27, of Pensacola, was arrested Tuesday and charged with child neglect without great bodily harm and booked into the Escambia County Jail without bond.

According to the ECSO, the deputies entered a home in the 200 block of Opal Avenue, but the stench inside the residence was so strong that "deputies had to leave periodically to get fresh air."

Inside the home, the deputies discovered rotting food, garbage and animal feces.

"Roaches and other bugs collected on the garbage in droves," according to an ECSO social media post. "The worst part was that three young children … were living in these conditions."

The children — ages 1, 5 and 6 — were removed from the house, along with five dogs, by the ECSO with the assistance of the Florida Department of Children and Families and animal control.

Hall still had active warrant for aggravated assault, domestic violence, battery and criminal mischief as of Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with any information about Hall's whereabouts has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 850-433-7867 or the ECSO at 850-436-9620.
