A new Flagler Beach restaurant hosted its four-day grand opening over the weekend.

Cajun Beach Boil and Sushi – a charming outdoor eatery with unbeatable beachfront views – serves a mouthwatering medley of Cajun and seafood favorites, from its panko prawns and po' boy sandwich to its range of boils and Louisiana Gumbo – not to mention its sizeable sushi menu and full bar.

The beachside spot announced its grand opening on social media late last month, following its soft opening that began in early August. With a packed itinerary, the Cajun eatery hosted a four-day bender of exciting themed events in celebration of its long-awaited official opening.

Mardi Gras in Flagler Beach

Festivities began Thursday lasted through the weekend, with themes including a masquerade party, an all-white party, a krewes party, and a Mardi Gras parade and afterparty. With free beads and masks, the colorful, high-energy weekend put a creative spin on a traditional restaurant introduction.

Having attended the all-white party, I was captivated by the eatery’s ocean views, crowd of smiles and casual atmosphere filled with on-theme locals dressed to impress in casual, beachy attire. Accompanied by several others enjoying dinner at the restaurant’s covered cabanas, picnic tables and full bar, I scoured the menu, caught between a range of options, from the peel-and-eat shrimp and fresh sushi to the BLT po’ boy and chicken jambalaya.

I landed on Ozella’s Louisiana Gumbo – a must-try − and the fresh crab cakes, an ultimately satisfying dinner choice. The traditional gumbo dish combined shrimp, crawfish, Andouille sausage, okra, bell peppers, onions and celery over white rice. The hearty, aromatic favorite was boldly seasoned, flavorful and, naturally, licked clean. The grilled crab cakes were no exception, exuding a savory yet sweet, well-seasoned flavor that penetrated the dish and paired perfectly with the eatery's house-made Cajun sauce.

Whether treating yourself to a scenic, seafood feast or bringing along a full party to indulge, Cajun Beach Boil and Sushi seems to be the new dinner spot of the season for a beachside drink or flavor-filled meal with friends and family.

Cajun Beach Boil and Sushi is located at 1112 S. Ocean Shore Blvd. in Flagler Beach and is open 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. For information, call 386-693-4014 or visit Facebook.com.
