Clobbering time? More like texting time.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach is pulling back the curtain on Marvel’s First Family group chat.

The Bear star, who is set to play Ben Grimm (aka The Thing), revealed that a Fantastic Four text chain has already been established between him and his costars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn following the quartet’s casting announcement earlier this month.

“There is a group text,” Moss-Bachrach confirmed on Friday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Pedro started a group text a couple days ago.”

Although, the actor admitted he’s not exactly sure who has been texting what just yet.

“I have his number, so it says Pedro Pascal, and then there’s two +44 [the UK country code] numbers. I don’t know which one’s Vanessa and which one is Joseph,” Moss-Bachrach confessed. “But everybody said something! Everyone’s put a little image or a sticker or a gif or something out there, so people are invested, I guess? No one’s being coy! Everyone showed up. It’s nice, it’s nice.”

While he kept mum on any plot details, Moss-Bachrach did confirm that he has “read” the film’s script already and that his performance, not unlike Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, will be “mostly performance capture.”

“I don’t think it’s the suit,” he said. “I think in the past they’ve done a suit — Michael Chiklis wore a suit, apparently the suit was really uncomfortable — and it’s kinda it’s, we’re past that, I think. It’s a little kinda cosplay. It’s a little amateur, that stuff now, with the technology we have.”

Moss-Bachrach also shared the very first thing that he did after learning he’d landed the role last August.

“I got a call from my agent — and I wasn’t thinking about work at all because writers were striking and then actors were probably going to strike — and he said, ‘Yeah, they asked you to play The Thing,’” he recalled. “And I remember, because I was right on Fifth Avenue and 21st Street [in New York City], and I was so shocked, and I was walking, and the next thing I realized, I was right in front of Astor Wines. So I went in and bought a bunch of mezcal.”

Watch him talk about all things The Thing — and how his friend forgot to tell him Steven Spielberg was a fan of The Bear — in the clip above.
