Eat. Watch. Do. — 2023 top movies and TV, Christkindlmarket guide, plus ‘Boop! The Musical’ review

It’s Thursday, Chicago.

Did you know that the year’s earliest sunsets begin today? While that may dampen your mood, our coverage of things to do and places to eat may help “light up” this time of year.

Looking back on 2023, an unprecedented year for the entertainment industry, our critics are beginning their “best of” lists for the year. Both TV critic Nina Metz and film critic Michael Phillips share their lists of the titles they loved this week, which may give you ideas for cozy weekend watching.

From food critic Louisa Kung Liu Chu, we have a guide to all things good to eat at the downtown Christkindlmarket this year with nods to a few staff favorites, like a pizza-stuffed pretzel.

And to round out our seasonal offerings, we have a list of holiday tea services in the Chicago area, and a review for “The Nutcracker” at the Joffrey Ballet as well perfect for keeping the winter blues away.

Enjoy the weekend, and we’ll see you back here next week.
