Easter bake sale planned at Greek church in Akron
The Easter bake sale is coming back to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Akron.
After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the spring event for the past two years, baking efforts have resumed in earnest. The 2022 sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13-14 in the church at 129 S. Union St. in Akron.
All proceeds will support the charitable efforts of Philoptochos, a philanthrophic organization.
“We encourage presale, prepaid ordering as quantities are limited,” bake sale chair Kim Vernis explained.
Order forms can be found on the church website at https://www.annunciationakron.org/.
The bake sale will feature:
• Koulourakia (traditional twisted cookies), $6 a dozen.
• Paximadia (Greek biscotti), $6 a dozen.
• Baklava (layers of phyllo, honey and nuts), $1.50 each.
• Kourambiethes (butter cookies covered in powdered sugar), $1.50 each.
