Jalen Hurts in November 2023

Jalen Hurts' offseason look is sending fans into panic mode.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been laying low since the team's season ended in January (though he did play in the NFL Pro Bowl last month), but he popped up this week in a photo shared by his dentist — and fans were surprised by how he looked.

The NFL star, who is usually — and by usually, we mean always — rocking a goatee, was instead fresh-faced and cleanly shaven.

In the photo, which has since been deleted by Philadelphia-based dentist Kunal Parikh but is still making the rounds on X, formerly known as Twitter, Hurts shows off the look that is so very rarely seen. And the fans have a lot to say.

Eagles Nation on X, a fan site, wondered if "Babyface Jalen" might be taking over next season, noting that this isn't the first time the 25-year-old Texas native has shaved his facial hair off.

Plenty of other fans on social media were distraught over Hurts' decision to ditch his goatee, commenting everything from downright outrage to simply strings of crying emojis. A few noted that between Hurts doing this and Jason Kelce's retirement announcement, it was a really tough week for Eagles fans all around.

Shaving following the football season seems to be the trend, as Travis Kelce did the same thing after he and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Over the weekend, barber Vince Garcia shared a behind-the-scenes look at Kelce's post-season beard trim. "THE 3X CHAMP," he captioned a clip of the football player.

"My brother @killatrav pulled up last week to get that fresh cut after winning his 3rd Super Bowl! After growing out the beard for 2mo it was time to cut it back down! Congrats once again fam, well deserved my G! 🏆💯🏈"

In the video, shot by Instagram user @mistah_kang, Kelce called the experience a "new chapter" as he said goodbye to the beard.
