Eagles honor Kobe Bryant by featuring 'Kobe's 10 Rules' on memorial wall

The Philadelphia Eagles are honoring the late Kobe Bryant at their practice facility with photos of the Los Angeles Lakers champion and his “10 Rules.”

There are three photos of the Philadelphia native, as shown on Alshon Jeffery’s Instagram account. One is of the star playing for nearby Lower Merion High School, another of him tugging at a Lakers jersey in celebration and a third in an Eagles No. 8 uniform, per ESPN.

It features Bryant’s 10 Rules for success.

Bryant was an avid Eagles fan. He and his daughter, Gianna, as well as seven others, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, in January.

What are ‘Kobe’s 10 Rules’ for success?

“Kobe’s 10 Rules” are the following, printed in all white uppercase letters on the facility wall.

  1. Get better every single day

  2. Prove them wrong

  3. Work on your weaknesses

  4. Execute what you practiced

  5. Learn from greatness

  6. Learn from wins & losses

  7. Practice mindfulness

  8. Be ambitious

  9. #Believe in your team

  10. Learn storytelling

Bryant was born in Philadelphia and spent much of his childhood in Italy, where his father Joe Bryant continued his professional playing career after the NBA. Kobe moved back to Philly in middle school and then starred for Lower Merion.

The five-time NBA champion visited the Eagles in December 2017, two months before the team’s Super Bowl LII title. Players were in awe of Bryant and spoke highly of his “Mamba mentality.”

“He wanted to make them [the opponent] feel like they shouldn't be a basketball player, they should be an accountant,” Rodney McLeod said in 2017, via NBC Sports. “That's what he said. And you see it when you watch him play. When you have that mindset, it's hard to beat a guy like that.”

McLeod is entering his fifth season with the Eagles. He is one of a large number of Kobe fans on the team, including new cornerback addition Darius Slay. Slay said in March he will wear No. 24 to honor Bryant.

The franchise released a statement on the day of Bryant’s death, writing that he was a “champion for the ages, a fearless competitor, and an outstanding ambassador for the city.”
