The Eagle to open second location in Louisville just in time for Thanksgiving

Seven years after The Eagle opened on Bardstown Road, a second location of the fried chicken restaurant and beer hall will open in Louisville.

The Eagle, known for serving fried chicken, southern sides, cocktails and craft beer, first opened in downtown Cincinnati and will soon have eight locations.

The eatery’s latest iteration is set to open Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving, at the Oxmoor Center, according to a release from Thunderdome Restaurant Group.

This comes two months after Bakersfield, a taco and tequila spot also owned by Thunderdome, opened at 1064 Bardstown Road.

“There’s something about the way this city feels and the customers we see coming through the door,” Joe Lanni, the restaurant group’s co-founder, told the Courier Journal. “It feels like a fit for us. We’ve had a warm reception.”

The Eagle features all-natural, free-range fried chicken brined in-house, which you can order as a whole chicken, half chicken, or drumsticks. Shareable items include house-pickled French green beans, hush puppies and a Pimento cheese snack plate. The menu also features sandwiches, plus side items such as collard greens, coleslaw, white cheddar grits, sweet potatoes with toasted mini marshmallows and shrimp-and-grits.

The Eagle will join Top Golf, clothing shops, and restaurants such as Condado Tacos and The Capital Grille at Oxmoor Center, 7900 Shelbyville Road.

For the Nov. 22 opening, The Eagle will give away $50 gift cards to the first 50 customers. The restaurant also plans to provide $20,000 in free food throughout December to those dining at The Eagle.

“The Eagle on Bardstown Road has been incredibly popular, and we’re excited to expand its footprint in the market,” Lanni said in the news release. “This location will be our third restaurant overall in Louisville. We could not be more appreciative of the support we continue to receive from this community.”
