A+E’s ‘Alone’ Goes Into The German Wilderness On RTL+

A+E’s survivalist format Alone is headed into Germany.

Alone Germany (aka Alone Überlebe die Wildnis) has been given the greenlight by streamer RTL+. ITV Studios Germany is attached to make the show.

Additionally, a second season of the show has been ordered in Australia, where SBS ran the first season and saw it record year-best results for an original commission. ITV Studios Australia is behind that version.

SBS has also acquired the UK version of Alone, as has TVNZ+ in New Zealand The History Channel in the U.S., which was the format’s original home. It has also been optioned in France, Finland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan and Korea.

The survival competition series pits 10 competitors against each other, as they attempt to survive in the wilderness alone for the longest time using a limited amount of survival kit. Besides short medical checks, they are left completely to fend for themselves.

In the U.S. History has aired 10 seasons of the show, having launched it in 2015. ITV Studios-owned Leftfield Pictures makes it, and there are also remakes in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

“These new territories reflect how Alone’s unique format resonates with audiences around the world, with each local series becoming a must-watch, returnable success,” said Ninder Billing, Vice President, Unscripted International Co-Productions at A+E Media Group. “We’re excited to broaden and enrich the Alone universe.”
