Dwyane Wade responds to tweet, plays pickup with 'former high school JV standout'

Dwyane Wade made some New Yorkers’ night earlier this week when he responded to a tweet and showed up to play in their pickup game.

Wade posted, “Where the local hoopers at in NYC?” on Wednesday and of course got dozens of responses.

‘I’m a former highschool JV standout!’

One of the responses Wade got was from Brad Parker, who came across as friendly, self-deprecating and offered at least moderately skilled competition:

“I know you wouldn’t check out the courts (at) Chelsea Piers. 5:30 is perfect, when all the New Yorkers not in finance get out of work,” Parker tweeted. “The finance people can’t ball anyway hahah. Come through for a solid run with many former college and pro players. I’m a former highschool JV standout!”

Another man, Brian Poliakoff, also answered Wade’s tweet with an invitation to play at Chelsea Piers.

Both got their wish.

‘Life complete’

Wade went to Chelsea Piers and played with Parker and Poliakoff, both of whom posted evidence on social media.

Wade did too, with a photo of himself and nearly 30 others on Instagram and captioned in part, “#Localhoopersneedlovetoo.”

Parker’s video shows him with Wade, and Wade explaining that he showed up because of Parker’s tweet. Parker showed up wearing a Steve Novak New York Knicks jersey “and it was over,” Wade said.

“Do I shoot like him?,” Parker asks.

“Absolutely not,” Wade deadpans.

In his caption, Parker wrote, “Life complete” with a checkmark.

In case you had any doubt, Wade basically dominated. He hasn’t yet said whether he’ll return for a 16th NBA season.
