Dwyane Wade is clearing up some confusion about Gabrielle Union's comments on their 50/50 money split that caused some controversy online last month.
Gabrielle did an interview with Idea Generation, where she revealed she and Dwyane "split everything 50/50" in their household, while also separately taking care of their respective family members' households.
Because they both take care of some of their family members financially, Gabrielle admitted she feels a lot of pressure and anxiety in her career to over-perform, so that she's able to remain financially stable for her and her family.
Commenters were quick to point out the difference between Dwyane and Gabrielle's net worth, and were upset that she was splitting bills with her husband, who reportedly made more than her.

According to reports, Dwyane's net worth is around $170 million and Gabrielle's net worth is around $40 million. Please note that recorded net worth amounts aren't always accurate.
As the discourse continued online, Gabrielle followed up her comment about what works best in her marriage and household. She revealed that Dwyane has offered to cover things plenty of times, but she just prefers to pull her own weight:
Well, now Dwyane is speaking out to clarify any misconceptions people might have about their 50/50 split. On Monday, during a recent episode of Shannon Sharpe's podcast Club Shay Shay, Dwyane broke down where their expenses actually go.
The NBA champ revealed that their decision to split finances came after he made a flippant comment to Gabrielle about their living situation in Miami.
“I said something about it being my house that I paid for. My wife looked at me and said, 'You will never say that to me again when it’s something that we share,'" Dwyane told Shannon.
“So when we moved to [Los Angeles], my wife said, ‘I got half on it, you will never say my house again — you can say that in the arena!’"
Dwyane said that people immediately made assumptions about what 50/50 means, but for him and Gabrielle it means something a little different.
“I have 20 to 50 responsibilities and my wife has 20 to 50 responsibilities, and when I say that, that means she has her mother, she has her sisters, she has her dad, so she has a lot of things she’s responsible for,” Dwyane added. “She pays 100 percent of that and you know what I do? I pay 100 percent of my life.”
"So in our life, our home we purchased it together 50/50. Our daughter, anything that goes on with our daughter we share it together."
He went on to praise Gabrielle for all that she's accomplished so far in her life, as well as what she continues to accomplish in her career. He admires that Gabrielle is always looking for ways to improve. So if Dwyane put money down for them to take a vacation, he said Gabrielle had no problem offering to match that amount so that they could take an even bigger vacation.
"I don't make my wife do anything. If I did we wouldn't be in the headlines all the time [laughs]. I do alright for myself, but but in certain moments that we want to do better together, we do better together."
Dwyane also joked about all the think-pieces that were published after Gabrielle's initial comments went viral. But at the end of the day, every relationship is different and that should be respected by those outside of the relationship. We can't expect everyone to move the same way or make the same decisions as everyone else, because that's just not realistic.
