Dwyane Wade is clearing the air about whether he and Gabrielle Union split everything "50/50."

The retired NBA star appeared on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast and explained Union's viral quotes last month about the couple going half on all of their finances after reading "think pieces going around about me as a man."

Wade, 41, said he and Union, 50, made the decision to contribute equally to their household after the former Miami Heat star quipped during an argument when he was working in Florida that they were in "my house that I paid for."

"My wife looked at me and said 'You will never say that to me again when it’s something that we share,'" Wade recalled. "So when we moved to (Los Angeles) my wife said 'I got half on it you will never say 'my house' again – you can say that in the arena!'"

In reality, Wade said he and the "Bring It On" alum, whom he wed in August 2014, only split about three things "50/50." That includes their house and shared expenses for their 4-year-old daughter Kaavia.

"We decided that certain pieces of our life, we would share in it," the NBA star added.

When it comes to other expenses such as Union's family members and Wade's family members, they pay "100% of that" separately. The former professional basketball player shares two kids − Zaire, 21, and Zaya, 16 − with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, as well as son Xavier, 9, with Aja Métoyer.

Rest assured, Wade said he spends plenty of money on Union to keep things "spicy" and "sexy" in their relationship.

Last month, Union said in a Bloomberg interview that her household splits everything.

"It's weird to say I'm head of household, because in this household, we split everything 50/50," Union said in a Bloomberg Originals video published May 8. "But in the other households that each of us have to support, there's always this gorilla on your back that is like, 'You better work! You better work! You want to sleep in? Somebody might not eat.' And it's hard. It's hard to let that go, so I'm working on that."

Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade split bills and Twitter is heated. But should you do the same?

The "Being Mary Jane" star added that she has an "anxiety and scarcity mindset" that keeps her working so that she doesn't feel like she's letting down the people she financially supports.

During Wade's "Club Shay Shay" podcast interview, he also explained why he and Union both signed prenuptial agreements.

He recalled telling his wife before they married, "I’ll sign a prenup, too. You’re a millionaire, you got money. You work hard for yourself."

"You get insurance, don't you?" Wade added.
